Principles of Interior Design.

Like any other bestselling novel writer, a good interior designer adheres to important interior design principles that, when applied properly, can enhance emotions only a top-calibre design can deliver. There are six basic principles of interior designing, which are as follows.

Principle of balance

Balance is all about achieving equilibrium that gives happiness to the eye.

Traditional interior design generally incorporates symmetrical balance, a technique used to attempt or to make both sides of the room mirror one by one.


The current trend that Interior designers in Miami Beach use is Asymmetry, a deviation from symmetrical balance where the room is designed with different fixture design and arrangement still maintains the same visual weight

Principle of Scale

The other principle is the principle of scale that deals with the harmonious proportion of a room to its decorative fixtures. The relationship of the institutions and the space in terms of size to obtain the desired design output, like creating the room appear bigger and making the room appear smaller.

Principle of Rhythm

Rhythm is the set of the visual movement of the room’s design. Repetition is a basic technique of the rhythm principle that utilizes the same aesthetic elements, such as maintaining the fixture or the design’s characteristics and quality

Principle of Contrast

Contrast is the important design principle that will help your room’s focus ‘pop out’ in a visually appealing manner. Contrast also helps in reducing your design to look monotonous.
